It’s impossible to think of a winemaker who’s more quintessentially Spanish than Álvaro Palacios, a man who has established his global fame with wines from three different regions – Priorat, Bierzo and his native Rioja. A lover of flamenco, bullfighting and his classical guitar, he talks to me about monks, Garnacha, the magic of old vines, his eight brothers and sisters, and why he thinks he’s really a “nobody”.
For more information about Alvaro Palacios' wines have a look at his winery's website.

Cork Talk with Adi Badenhorst
Friday Sep 11, 2020
Friday Sep 11, 2020
Adi Badenhorst was brought up on a wine farm in Constantia and made his first wine when he was 13. An absurdly young age, even with his background. After a spell working at Rustenberg in Stellenbosch, he bought a semi-abandoned property on the Paardeberg and has since become a key figure in the Swartland wine Revolution. We talk about Cinsault and Chenin Blanc; about music, coffee and mezcal – and the thrill of working with old vines.
You can follow AA Badenhorst on Instagram @aabadenhorst. For more information about Adi's wines have a look at the winery's website.

Thursday Aug 27, 2020
Faouzi Issa is one of the superstars of the Lebanese wine industry, often talked of as the natural successor to the late Serge Hochar of Château Musar. Trained in France, where he worked at Château Margaux, no less, he took over his family winery Domaine des Tourelles at the age of 25. I caught up with him to talk about Cinsault, his favourite variety, about why the Bekaaa Valley is the “sexiest place in the world” to make wine and about the aftermath of the terrible explosion in Beirut on August 4th.
You can follow Faouzi on Instagram @domainedestourelles. For more information about his wines, have a look at the domaine's website.

He’s also widely recognised as being among of the most talented winemakers in Argentina. Architecture’s loss is very much wine’s gain. We talk about his first job in the wine industry – making a pineapple-based RTD, believe it or not – the potential he sees in Argentina’s white wines, his personal family project, Tres14, and the many and diverse styles of Malbec.
